load restrictions lifted as of May 2

Township of Severn is lifting seasonal load restrictions May 2

The Seasonal Load Restrictions By-law restricts loads on most Township roads to a maximum of five tonnes per axle in the spring starting on March 1 and are in effect until around the end of May. This restriction is put in place to protect our roads when they may be weakened by excess water in the road base and can then be damaged by heavy vehicles.

With spring being the busiest time of year in the building industry, Severn recognizes the impact that load restrictions can have on local businesses and the advancement of projects. To allow for a return to regular activities in the Township, Public Works staff have recently inspected our road conditions and determined that the roads are structurally sound. As a result load restrictions can be lifted slightly ahead of schedule.
