Background

Township of Severn is planning to reconstruct Grand Tamarack Crescent from Highway 11 to Bayou Road. View the study area. The reconstruction will include roadside and boulevard drainage improvements as well as replacement of the existing cross-culverts at Shadow Creek. As part of the reconstruction, the roadway will be upgraded to a semi-urban cross section, including adjustments to the centreline alignment and profile as well as new concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk along the south side of the roadway.

Study process

This study will follow the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act. We're proceeding with a Schedule A+ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to consider the impacts of the proposed improvements. The works are pre-approved under the Environmental Assessment Act. However, the design will address:

  • configuration and hydraulic capacity of the Shadow Creek culvert crossing
  • alternative solutions to improving drainage conveyance along the road corridor
  • improvements for pedestrian activity through implementation of a sidewalk along the road corridor
  • minimize potential impacts to the existing environment within the area
