Notice of watermain flushing

Notice details

Watermain flushing will take place in Coldwater from Tuesday, January through Thursday, January 19 between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Flushing is an important part of our water and wastewater maintenance program and ensures the integrity of the water supply system. Flushing involves isolating a section of the water distribution system and opening hydrants to release water at a high flow rate. This removes material that has built up over time and improves drinking water quality.

Some discolouration of water or intermittent drops in water pressure may result from the flushing.

Residents are advised to:

  • keep a fresh supply of drinking water in your refrigerator
  • check for discolouration before using the water for laundry or cleaning
  • if your water is discoloured, run the tap until the water clears

Once the water has cleared and is no longer discoloured, you can resume all regular activities, including drinking. Drinking small quantities of discoloured water does not present a health concern.
