Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee
Township of Severn's Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee works to make Severn accessible for all residents and visitors. We do this by identifying and removing barriers.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee is a joint committee with the Township of Severn and Township of Ramara in accordance with the Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

Meetings
The Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee meets twice per year or at the call of the committee chair. If you'd like to speak before the committee at a meeting, you'll need to submit a delegation request.
Members
The Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee consists of at least two members from each municipality:
- two members of Council
- two individuals with a disability

Mandate and responsibility
The Accessibility Advisory Committee is responsible for:
- reviewing and updating the accessibility plan
- reporting all committee accomplishments on an annual basis
- advising Council on matters related to accessibility
Have your say on the draft Accessibility Plan
Township of Severn continues to work to identify, remove, and prevent different types of barriers for people with disabilities, to make our community a fully accessible place to work, live, and play. The draft 2024 to 2029 Accessibility Plan is the five-year road map to help Severn reach its accessibility requirements and contribute to the goal of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) for an accessible Ontario.
The draft Accessibility Plan includes:
- actions taken over the past year to remove barriers
- processes by which the Township has identified, removed, and prevented barriers to persons with disabilities
- measures the Township will be taking to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to persons with disabilities
- the monitoring process for the Accessibility Plan
- actions to be taken to communicate the Township’s Accessibility Plan to the public.

How to provide your feedback
We want to hear from you. Comments on the draft Accessibility Plan can be submitted until Friday, December 1, 2023 by phone, email, or in person at our Administrative Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) from Monday to Friday during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
