Account numbers were changed in 2024 as we upgraded to a new financial system. If you pay your water/sewer bill or your tax bill at your bank, whether in person, using online apps, or at a bank machine, please update your account numbers. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has declared a nationwide strike. Please remember, even during mail disruptions, all penalties, interest, or fines remain in effect. A full road closure will be in place from 4343 Hamilton Street to the corner of County Road 169 starting Monday, June 30 at 6:00 p.m. until Tuesday, July 1 at 10:00 p.m. for Canada Day celebrations. The Washago Canada Day parade is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, at 1:00 p.m. The event will include a rolling closure of Muskoka Street (Ramsay Street to 3394 Muskoka Street) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, for the Canada Day holiday. We will reopen on Wednesday, July 2, at 8:30 a.m.
Over the last ten months, the Township of Severn reviewed its Council composition and ward boundary structure. As Severn's population continues to grow, the review was done to help ensure voters are represented equally in the decision-making process. At the June 25, 2025, Special Council meeting, a by-law was passed to update Severn's ward boundaries. The changes to the wards will be in place for the 2026 Municipal Election.
Council had the honour of recognizing resident Cathy Westcott for receiving the provincial 2025 Senior of the Year Award. Council also acknowledged five recipients of Severn's annual Good Neighbour Award for their kindness and invaluable contributions to our community.
Final tax bills were mailed on June 20 and taxes are due in two instalments, August 8 and October 8. Please remember, even during mail disruptions, all penalties, interest, or fines remain in effect. An Extended Heat Warning for Simcoe and Muskoka is in effect. Dangerously hot, humid conditions are expected June 23 and June 24, with daytime highs of 30 to 33ºC, with humidex values of 40 to 43ºC. Severn has three facilities where residents can cool down indoors and access water. Residents are also able to access the City of Orillia cooling centres.
Through a partnership agreement with the Township of Georgian Bay, a limited number of free parking passes for Port Severn Park and Beach (17 Port Severn Road North) are available for Severn residents. The Port Severn community is shared between Severn and Georgian Bay, and for many Severn residents, Port Severn Park and Beach is the closest park for leisure activities and for children to play.
To celebrate the contributions of the Township of Severn's team, our Administration Office and all facilities will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17. Please visit our office before the scheduled lunch closure, or afterwards until 4:30 p.m.
Township of Severn is moving forward with the next phase of its Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program. Installation of "Coming Soon" signs is completed in our designated Community Safety Zones and School Zones.
