Servicing Master Plan | Township of Severn

Township of Severn hired Civica Infrastructure to develop the Servicing Master Plan (Plan). The Plan has been completed in accordance with requirements of the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, amended in 2007, 2011, and 2015).

About the Servicing Master Plan

The Plan includes include a complete technical and asset performance analysis to identify service gaps and future water, wastewater, and stormwater service needs. The Plan contains recommendations on how we can provide the needed level of service in response to the projected growth of the community over the next 30-years.

Water and wastewater service

Water and wastewater treatment and distribution systems are currently operational in the Settlement Areas of:

Coldwater
Washago
Westshore

Water supply service only

Water supply services (no wastewater) are provided by the Township in the communities of:

Bass Lake Woodlands
Marchmont
Sandcastle Estates
Severn Estates

Private systems (no service)

Other rural areas in Severn rely on private water and wastewater services (wells and septic system or other) and include:

Ardtrea
Fesserton
Marchmont
Port Severn
Severn Falls

The notice of study completion will announce the completion of the project and invite stakeholders to review and comment on the final Plan.

Public Information Centres

Opportunities for public involvement in the project were be provided throughout the study. Two Public Information Centers (PICs) were planned as a part of this study. The first PIC was held to present the project information, current servicing scheme, areas of improvement, etc., and receive public input prior to evaluating alternatives. The second PIC included the assessment of alternatives and presentation of the preferred best solution.

Stakeholder contact list

Stakeholders that will be notified about the development of the Plan include:

First Nations and Metis groups
major landowners
local businesses, groups, associations, and other organizations
utilities, school boards, and other groups identified by the Township

Individuals on the contact list received study notices directly by mail or e-mail.

What happens after the approval of the Plan?

After the final Servicing Master Plan has been approved, the project will proceed to the implementation phase, which includes the detailed design, review, evaluation, and possible construction phases of the water, wastewater, and stormwater services for Severn.
