Emergency Preparedness Week

Emergency Preparedness Week takes place each year during the first week of May and is a Canadian initiative to raise awareness about individual and family emergency preparedness.

The theme for Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week 2026 is Be Prepared. Know Your Risks. We encourage you to understand the risks in your area and learn what actions you can take to protect yourself and your household.

You can also access informational tip sheets developed by the University of Waterloo’s Intact Centre. These sheets include important information on how to prepare for upcoming flood, fire, and extreme heat seasons.
