Volunteer Recognition Awards

National Volunteer Week (NVW) is an important annual opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers in Severn and around the country for their contributions that benefit and support our communities. This year, NVW is being celebrated from April 19 to 25, 2026. To thank our local volunteers, the Township of Severn is now welcoming nominations for its annual Volunteer Recognition Awards.  

Nominees are considered under two award categories:

  • Good Neighbour Award
  • Outstanding Youth Award.

Good Neighbour Award

The Good Neighbour Award is awarded to an individual or group that has displayed strong values and a positive impact through the promotion or action of good neighbourly deeds that contribute to the vitality and fabric of the community. One to three awards will be presented annually, or at the direction of Council.

Eligibility

Nominees must be:

  • a resident of Severn, or a community organization or group based in Severn
  • an individual, community organization or group who has gone above and beyond the norm in looking after the people they serve in the community

Outstanding Youth Award

The Outstanding Youth Award is open to individuals 18 years and younger who have made an outstanding contribution by giving back to their community, demonstrating selflessness, or promoting inclusivity and diversity within Severn. One award will be presented annually.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award:

  • nominees must be a resident of Severn
  • nominees must be a 18 years or younger
  • the nominator cannot be related to an individual nominee

Award reception to be held on April 22

Township of Severn will host a Volunteer Recognition and Awards Reception on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at our Administration Office, 1024 Hurlwood Lane.

Council will present the Annual Volunteer Awards, followed by a mix-and-mingle reception with light refreshments.

All are welcome to attend as we celebrate the outstanding volunteers who help make our community stronger.
