June is Recreation and Parks Month is an initiative of Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO). PRO is a non-profit association of leaders in recreation and parks that advances the health, social, and environmental benefits of quality recreation and parks. We’re inviting everyone in Severn to get active, explore the outdoors, and enjoy the many recreation opportunities available in our community. Whether you’re cycling a local route, visiting a park, trying pickleball, paddling the river, joining a drop-in program, or simply taking a walk with friends and family, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Follow along with our June activity calendar and make time to move, play, connect, and celebrate the places that help keep our community healthy and active.

Head out to the Uhthoff Trail for a bike ride. This beautiful trail offers a picturesque route through lush forests, serene wetlands, and open fields, making it perfect for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.

Highlights

Whether you're looking for a leisurely ride or a more vigorous workout, the Uhthoff Trail provides a peaceful escape into nature. Don't forget to bring water, snacks, and your sense of adventure.  

 

Visit Ian Chrichton Memorial Park 

Discover the natural beauty of Ian Crichton Memorial Park with a relaxing walk. This scenic park offers trails that wind through lush forests, peaceful meadows, and along tranquil streams. Perfect for hikers of all ages and abilities, it's a great way to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy some fresh air.

  • Amenities: Picnic areas, playground, benches, and rest spots along the way 

Ian Crichton, for whom the park is named, was a respected Councillor and figure in the local community. He was known for his dedication to environmental conservation and his efforts to promote outdoor activities and recreation. Crichton's legacy lives on through the park, offering a space where people can connect with nature, engage in physical activity, and enjoy the tranquility of the natural landscape he cherished.

Our new camps will take place in July and August 2026, Monday to Friday in Coldwater and Washago.

We provide a safe space for kids to engage in games, outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, and other fun activities that will create lasting memories.

Overview of our day camps

Township of Severn day camps for children ages 4 to11 years of age will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with optional before care available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (registration required). 

Each day begins with a morning meet-up before campers jump into high-energy games and activities, followed by a “choose your own adventure” block. Afternoons include crafts, exploratory and STEM activities, camp-wide games, and team challenges, along with scheduled breaks and lunch.

Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Played on a smaller court with a lightweight paddle and plastic ball, it is easy to learn, fun for all ages, and great for both casual play and friendly competition. Drop in to one of our outdoor sports courts to join a game!
