Bass Lake Woodlands Park Design and Plan

Severn has secured the services of GSP Group Inc. to develop a comprehensive Design and Plan for Bass Lake Woodlands Park. This plan will provide a strategic vision to ensure the park meets the evolving recreational needs of our residents.

About Bass Lake Woodlands Park

Bass Lake Woodlands Park is a 0.88-hectare local park located at 1956 Pine Avenue. It is designed to serve residents within a five to ten minute walking distance and act as a neighbourhood focal point.

Current park features include:

  • sport court (converted to an ice rink in winter)
  • lighting and small field house
  • beach volleyball court
  • non-accessible pathways
  • open space and woodlands
  • toboggan hill
  • playground

Project objectives

The Bass Lake Woodlands Park Design and Plan will focus on four key objectives.

Needs assessment

GSP Group Inc. will conduct a thorough review of existing park facilities to identify strengths, weaknesses, gaps, and opportunities, in consultation with Township staff and the Recreation Master Plan.

We'll engage residents, stakeholders, local organizations, and user groups through surveys, public meetings, and other methods to ensure the plan reflects the community’s priorities.

Our Project Team will develop recommendations for enhancing existing facilities and creating new recreational amenities, which may include:

  • green spaces
  • playgrounds
  • pathways
  • courts and skateparks

The park design will be inclusive and accessible for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, creating an environment where everyone can enjoy recreational activities.

Community engagement

You are invited to take part in the online survey and in person Design Charrette to share your ideas and priorities. Community input will help shape the overall vision for the park and inform future upgrades. Every response counts and will help guide the future of this important community space.

Have your say

The survey can be accessed online and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. All feedback will be reviewed and considered as part of the park design process. A print copy of the survey is available at our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane) during regular business hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). The survey closes at 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2026.

You’re invited to share your ideas in person

Join us for an in person Design Charrette to share ideas, discuss priorities, and provide input directly with the project team.

What is a Design Charrette?

A Design Charrette is a collaborative design workshop where planners, designers, and community members work together to explore ideas and develop design concepts in real time. It’s an exciting, hands-on opportunity for residents to help shape the future look and feel of the park. No design experience is needed — just bring your thoughts, questions, and ideas.

The session will include a brief presentation, informal discussions, and hands-on activities focused on learning how the park can better serve the neighbourhood. Registration is not required.
