Annual watermain flushing scheduled for May 20 in Coldwater
Annual watermain flushing is an important preventative maintenance activity that:
- removes mineral and sediment build up from the watermains
- allows Severn to deliver the highest quality water possible to our community
- ensures proper operation of the hydrants
Water system | Dates* |
Coldwater | May 20 to June 4 |
Sandcastle Estates | June 2 to June 6 |
Washago | June 2 to June 6 |
Westshore | June 9 to June 30 |
Flushing will take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
*The schedule is subject to change. Updates will be provided on our Watermains page.
Impacts to residents
Some discolouration of water or intermittent drops in water pressure may result from the flushing.
Residents are advised to:
- keep a fresh supply of drinking water in your refrigerator
- check for discolouration before using the water for laundry or cleaning
- if your water is discoloured, run the tap until the water clears
Once the water has cleared and is no longer discoloured, you can resume all regular activities, including drinking. Drinking small quantities of discoloured water does not present a health concern.
