Fire Danger Rating changed to HIGH; Fire Ban lifted
Effective Friday, July 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., the Township of Severn has changed the Fire Danger Rating to HIGH and lifted the fire ban.
At a HIGH rating, burning is permitted with extra caution; however, Severn Fire and Emergency Services recommends no burning. Never leave a fire unattended.
Limited parking at Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch
The Bayou Road reconstruction project has reduced access and parking capacity at the Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch. Parking will remain very limited until the project is completed this fall.
Boaters are encouraged to plan ahead and consider using the Quetton Street Boat Launch and Dock, located at 3420 Quetton Street in Washago.

Blue-green algae bloom confirmed on south-west shore of Sparrow Lake

Stockdale Road will be temporarily closed at New Brailey Line on Tuesday, July 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for an emergency culvert replacement.
West Street in Coldwater will be closed on Monday, July 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the installation of new water and sewer services.
Effective Thursday, July 16, at 9:00 a.m., the Township of Severn has issued a total fire ban due to current conditions. Air quality alerts are in effect for the area. These conditions make outdoor burning unsafe, as additional smoke can worsen local air quality and increase health risks for residents and visitors.
Simcoe and Muskoka is experiencing deteriorating air quality due to wildfire smoke. You are being advised that Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued Orange and Yellow Level Air Quality Alerts for Simcoe and Muskoka for July 15, continuing into Thursday and possibly Friday.
Due to the current air quality warning caused by wildfire smoke, the Public Information Centre scheduled for Thursday, July 16 at 3253 Port Severn Road has been cancelled.
The Fire Danger Rating in Severn has been set to HIGH. At the high rating, burning is allowed but please use extra caution and never leave a fire unattended. Severn Fire and Emergency Services recommends no burning.
Residents and visitors are advised that a blue-green algae bloom has been confirmed along the south-west shore of Sparrow Lake in the Township of Severn.
