Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Customer Care Assistant to join our team in a 6-month contract position. This role collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver outstanding experiences and find effective solutions for customers, residents, and external and internal partnerships.
Rate of pay
The compensation for this position is $27.54 per hour for a 35-hour week.

Major duties
The Customer Care Assistant will:
- assist with the collaborative maintenance of files
- participate as an effective team member within the Customer Service Team
- process all municipal mail daily, including opening, date stamping, and distributing to appropriate departments; receive and record procurement documents
- process payments and issue receipts for all counter transactions including but not limited to:
- building permits
- facility rentals
- fire permits
- planning applications
- property taxes
- recreation programs
- water and wastewater billing
- process permits and applications for all departments while working in collaboration with other staff and Customer Care Assistants
- provide clerical support to the Corporate Services department and the Planning and Development department
- provide front line customer service as an ambassador for the Township of Severn
- record all service requests received from residents
- work collaboratively with other departments to find solutions and resolve customer concerns
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- demonstrated exceptional computer literacy utilizing applications such as Laserfiche, Microsoft products, and other municipal-related software
- excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide accurate, complete, and timely information in a political and customer service environment
- proven and successful interpersonal and problem-solving skills to address customer inquiries and concerns with tact and diplomacy
- the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of information
- the ability to multitask, balance multiple demands, and address tight deadlines with frequent interruptions
- the ability to work occasional hours beyond normal weekly hours to accommodate meetings or specialized work projects
- a minimum of two years of related work experience
- a secondary school diploma
