Job description

The Arena and Parks Operator 1 will assist the Recreation department with maintenance, repair, and operational activities at the Coldwater Community Centre, trails system, and park sites, and the day-to-day operations at various facilities throughout the municipality. 

Closing date

Rate of pay 

The compensation for these positions is $28.23 per hour. The hours will include shift work, evenings, and weekends. These positions will have mandatory on-call requirements.

Duties

The Arena and Parks Operators will:

  • assist in all aspects of ice making and removal and other maintenance at the Coldwater Community Centre
  • assist will all trail and parks maintenance for the municipality
  • assist with the cleaning and maintenance of operating equipment, fleet, and facilities, including heavy lifting, shoveling, and various maintenance tasks
  • assist with work such as rentals, including set-up and tear down of functions and special events, and facility cleaning
  • assist with property maintenance which includes:
    • snow shoveling
    • ice maintenance 
    • weekly inspections of various equipment and facilities
    • general maintenance and small repairs
  • support of the daily program schedule and/or special events, operation of equipment and facility or ice maintenance functions pursuant to the municipality’s policies and procedures
  • promote and demonstrate a high standard of customer service
  • comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Program, and related policies and procedures
  • other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful candidates will posses the following requirements:

  • excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with the public
  • emergency first aid, Level A CPR, AED certification
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology, platforms, and programs
  • previous arena experience together with basic refrigeration or C.I.T would be an asset
  • secondary school diploma
  • unrestricted Ontario G driver’s licence

Job description

The Operations and Projects Coordinator will provide technical and research support for the Public Works department by undertaking and completing various tasks relating to municipal operations and projects, including assisting with contract administration, project management, as well as GIS requirements.

Rate of pay

The compensation range for this position is $38.13 to $44.62 based on a 35-hour week.

Core duties

The Operations and Projects Coordinator will:

  • collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to deliver projects efficiently, resolve technical issues, and maintain strong communication between Public Works and other departments for asset integration and reporting
  • coordinate traffic related activities – including signage assessment, traffic counts, and responding to traffic calming requests through data collection, policy evaluation, and studies
  • develop and manage GIS data models and mapping layers for municipal infrastructure; coordinate with external GIS partners as required
  • maintain and update municipal asset condition data and infrastructure records, including plans, maps, drawings and other records reflecting the municipal infrastructure within GIS and asset management systems for accurate planning and reporting
  • plan and coordinate Public Works operational and minor capital projects, including pavement management programs, structure inspections, stormwater facility assessments, and related reporting
  • prepares reports and documents regarding municipal infrastructure projects and policy matters, covering topics such as traffic safety
  • speed limit reviews, engineering standards, and asset management initiatives, as required
  • provide technical guidance within the department regarding operational issues, infrastructure, and regulatory issues
  • provide technical support for fleet and equipment management systems, including troubleshooting, interpreting operational data, and assisting with setup of maintenance schedules and technology integrations
  • support and monitor outsourced design and construction projects, ensuring compliance with municipal standards, specifications, and regulatory guidelines; track progress, budgets, and timelines, and prepare status reports
  • other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful applicant will possess:

  • post-secondary diploma in civil engineering or related engineering technology program
  • two to four years of previous experience with municipal operations and infrastructure
  • ability to perform inspections on road construction projects
  • ability to work with minimal supervision and to use independent judgment where warranted
  • excellent communication skills, oral and written, to prepare comments to various agencies within technical reports and letters
  • excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • knowledge of basic transportation engineering principles
  • member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
  • excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with the public
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office, Arc GIS and other technology, platforms, and programs
  • unrestricted Ontario G drivers licence
