June is Recreation and Parks Month

Each June, communities across Canada celebrate June as Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM). JRPM is recognized by municipalities, community organizations, schools, and other entities as a means to promote the benefits of being active and acknowledge the contributions that recreation and parks make to our quality of life.

Access to parks and recreation is a fundamental human need that helps foster health, strong communities, and social inclusion. JRPM celebrates parks and recreation services and raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental well-being.

Drop-in fitness programs

We offer drop-in fitness programs throughout the year such as Zumba Dance Fit and day-time and evening pickleball.

Visit our parks for outdoor family fun

Enjoy the outdoors and spend time in one of our many parks and beaches. Whether you're playing sports, walking your dog, or relaxing on the beach, there is something for everyone. View our Parks, Beaches, and Sportsfield page to locate the park nearest to you.

Gather some friends and play pickleball or basketball at one of our three multiuse sports courts located at Marchmont Community Park (2049 Avery Lane), Coldwater Fairgrounds (11 Michael Anne Drive ), or Washago Centennial Park (3398 Quetton Street).

Visit our website for more information about our parks, beaches, and sports fields.
