Leaf and Yard Waste Collection resumes in October

Midhurst/September 29, 2025: The County of Simcoe’s bi-weekly curbside Leaf and Yard Waste Collection program returns Monday, October 6. Place material out by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your garbage collection week. Each resident will receive five bi-weekly collections during this period, ending in early December.

Leaf and Yard Waste Collection

Residents are asked to place leaf and yard waste out at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week. Collection may occur any day during the week, so please be patient and leave your leaf and yard waste curbside as it may not be collected on your garbage day. Please note that this program does not apply to the cities of Barrie and Orillia.

Leaf and yard waste collection includes leaves, grass, garden waste and branches that are sized and bundled appropriately. Residents are reminded to use kraft paper yard waste bags, cardboard boxes, or open-ended rigid containers to place out for collection and to bundle brush with natural twine, maximum 2 metres long and 30 centimetres in diameter.

For more information on accepted materials and how to prepare for collection, please visit the County of Simcoe website

Battery Collection

Battery collection will occur during Battery Collection Week, beginning Monday, November 3. Residents should use their designated battery bag. If you don’t have a battery bag or need more space, battery bags can be collected at all County waste facilities, or you can use a large, clear resealable bag. During Battery Collection Week, please place battery bags on top of your cart, not inside it. Acceptable items include dry cell, single-use batteries such as standard AA, AAA, C, D, 9-Volt and button batteries. For more information, please visit the County of Simcoe website.
