Notice of road closure: Coldwater Legion District ‘E’ Drumhead Service on June 7

Rolling closures will be in place in Coldwater on Sunday, June 7 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for the Coldwater Legion District ‘E’ Drumhead Service:

• Michael Anne Drive (Coldwater Road to Gray Street)
• Gray Street (Michael Anne Drive to Coldwater Road)
• Coldwater Road (Gray Street to Michael Anne Drive)

About the Coldwater Legion District ‘E’ Drumhead Service

The Legion District ‘E’ Drumhead Service will be held at the Coldwater Legion on Sunday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m., with Legionnaires from across the district gathering for a parade followed by a ceremony at the Coldwater Legion Cenotaph.

Drumhead Services are a longstanding military tradition that began as field church services during wartime, when drums were stacked and draped to serve as a temporary altar. The tradition continued in Canada’s military history and was later adopted by the British Empire Service League after the First World War. The Royal Canadian Legion holds Drumhead Services to honour comrades who gave their lives in defence of the country.

All are welcome to attend the parade and important service.
