Reduced bridge loads in effect as of October 24 for the Hampshire Mills Line Bridge

Effective October 24, 2025, Bridge B28 Hampshire Mills Line, located approximately 1.8 kilometres (km) north of Cambrian Road will be subject to a load limit of five tonnes (11,000 pounds). 

As a result of a structural inspection, Bridge B28 was identified to have deteriorated components that require this restriction.

Please note, that loads over 5 tonnes (11,000 pounds) on Hampshire Mills Line should use the alternative routes instead of Bridge B28:

  • Hampshire Mills addresses, , 2642, 2594, 2593, 2518, 2503, 2494, 2425, and 2388 should receive heavy loads via Cambrian Road,
  • Hampshire Mills addresses, 2324, 2293, 2325, 2296, 2147, 2235, 2222, and 2188 should receive heavy loads via Maple Valley Road.

Signage will be posted at both ends of the bridge to inform road users.

Future options for rehabilitation or replacement of this structure will be considered by the Township as part of the budget process.

Additional reduced bridge loads in Severn include:

  • Reinbird Street (B11): 5 tonnes
  • Hampshire Mills Line (B13, Lot 14, Concessions 6 and 7, 2.3 km North of Cambrian Road): 14 tonnes
  • Kitchen Sideroad (B19, Lot 6, Concession 5, 1.40 km East of Church Line North: 13 tonnes
  • Maple Valley Road (B27, Lots 15 and 16, Concession 6, 0.3 km west of Hampshire Mills Line): 14 tonnes
  • Claresbridge Lane: 10 tonnes
