Seasonal load restrictions to be lifted on May 12, 2025

The Seasonal Load Restrictions By-law restricts loads on most Township roads to a maximum of five tonnes per axle in the spring starting on or around March 1, and are in effect until the end of May.

This restriction is put in place to protect our roads when they may be weakened by excess water in the road base and can then be damaged by heavy vehicles. 

With spring being the busiest time of year in the building industry, Severn recognizes the impact that load restrictions can have on local businesses and the advancement of projects.

To allow for a return to regular activities, Severn's Public Works department have inspected road conditions and determined that load restrictions can be lifted ahead of schedule on May 12.
