Severn Sound Environmental Association to host community Open House on August 15

The Severn Sound Environmental Association (SSEA) is inviting the Severn community to its upcoming Open House on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Penetanguishene Curling Club, 8 Owen Street, Penetanguishene.

This event is an opportunity for residents to learn more about SSEA’s vital work in environmental monitoring and stewardship across its eight member municipalities (Townships of Georgian Bay, Oro-Medonte, Severn, Springwater, Tay, and Tiny, and the Towns of Midland and Penetanguishene).

Attendees will have a chance to meet the SSEA team, explore interactive displays, try water quality monitoring equipment, and learn how they can get involved in protecting and enhancing the Severn Sound watershed.

Many SSEA programs will be on display including:

  • watershed resilience and stewardship
  • Drinking Water Source Protection
  • invasive species
  • trees and habitat
  • lake, river, climate, benthos and ground water monitoring
  • natural heritage
  • and others

“This Open House is a celebration of the incredible work being done in our region and a chance to connect with the community that makes it all possible,” says SSEA Vice Chair, Councillor Suzanne Marchand. “We’re excited to share our progress and invite everyone to be a part of the journey toward a healthier Severn Sound.”

No registration required—just drop in anytime during the event.
