Update on the Wainman Line culvert replacement project

Township of Severn continues to make progress on the major culvert replacement project on Wainman Line approximately 650 metres north of Division Road West (between Riverwood Lane and Carriage Court). This culvert replacement has required a long-term road closure which began in September 2024.

Due to the complex nature of this work, the reopening of Wainman Line is now anticipated by November 30, 2025. This timeline allows for the completion of stabilization work and building of a temporary road surface for the winter season.

The contractor is now working on the installation of the retaining wall system, backfilling, and preparing the roadway for reopening.

In summary, this work has included:

deep excavation and moving of materials
replacement of the existing culvert
installation of new retaining walls and remediation of the water channel
reconstruction of the roadway, including new guiderail system, catch basins, curb, and granular and asphalt road surfaces

No through access for vehicular traffic, cyclists, or pedestrians will continue on Wainman Line between Riverwood Lane and Carriage Court until November 30. The detour utilizing Warminster Road, Fairgrounds Road, and Division Road West as an alternate route will continue until that date.

Final project work to be completed in the spring

In spring 2026, crews will return to complete the final curb and gutter installation, surface asphalt paving, and final site restoration. This approach will ensure the new culvert and roadway performs as designed while minimizing the disruption to residents and road users through the winter months.
