Water service restored in the John Street area of Coldwater

Water service was restored at 6:30 a.m. this morning following the watermain break that occurred on February 11 near Coldwater Public School on John Street. The affected area included George Street, a portion of John Street, and a small section of Firehall Lane (approximately 28 properties).

The affected area is not under a boil water advisory.

Although service has resumed, Coldwater Public School made the decision to close for the day. As an added precaution, we have recommended that the school continue using potable water alternatives, including bottled water supplied by the Township, until laboratory results from water samples collected inside the school are received.

Residents may experience discoloured water. Running cold taps for a few minutes usually clears discolouration. 

Affected customers would have received a hand-delivered notice from Severn’s Water and Wastewater Department about this service impact. An additional hand-delivered notice was distributed when service resumed.
