The County of Simcoe welcomes over 9-million visitors a year that generate about $1-billion in economic activity with an estimated 39 percent of that going towards food and beverage sales. The County has seen a dramatic increase in agri-tourism interest from urban Ontarians, as people want to learn about where their food comes from. Many primary producers are looking at agri-tourism and other on-farm diversified opportunities to create more revenue.
This free workshop was held on February 25, 2025 in Coldwater and was designed to help primary producers in Severn learn about the planning process, the Ontario Building Code, and Ontario Fire Code items that need to be considered when expanding their offerings when operating a business in the Township. There was also sessions about accessing funding sources, developing a business plan, and insurance needs.
