Considering a run for Mayor or Council in the 2026 Municipal Election
Individuals interested in serving their community as a member of Council are invited to attend the Township of Severn’s Candidate Information Session on Thursday, April 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Township Administration Office. Learn more.
The Ministry of Natural Resources Aurora Midhurst Owen Sound District has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Warning for residents in the Townships of Severn, Ramara, Tiny, and Tay, including the Severn and Black Rivers around Washago, as well as Sparrow Lake and Lake St. John.
This statement is in effect until Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
The Volunteer Recognition and Awards Reception will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at our Administration Office, 1024 Hurlwood Lane.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate the outstanding volunteers who help make our community stronger.

Local producers and food entrepreneurs attended this free event that was held at the Oro-Medonte Community Arena Banquet Hall (71 Line 4 North, Oro-Medonte) from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12.

This event was hosted by the Townships of Severn, Oro-Medonte, and Ramara, and the Orillia and Area Community Development Corporation.
The County of Simcoe welcomes over 9-million visitors a year that generate about $1-billion in economic activity with an estimated 39 percent of that going towards food and beverage sales. The County has seen a dramatic increase in agri-tourism interest from urban Ontarians, as people want to learn about where their food comes from. Many primary producers are looking at agri-tourism and other on-farm diversified opportunities to create more revenue.
This free workshop was held on February 25, 2025 in Coldwater and was designed to help primary producers in Severn learn about the planning process, the Ontario Building Code, and Ontario Fire Code items that need to be considered when expanding their offerings when operating a business in the Township. There was also sessions about accessing funding sources, developing a business plan, and insurance needs.
