Bayou Road reconstruction continues to progress

Work continues on the reconstruction of Bayou Road from Highway 11 to Hedgemere Landing. The project includes road reconstruction, sidewalks, drainage improvements, streetlighting, and new pavement markings.

Construction update

Work completed to date includes:

• most, but not all, road-cross culverts and driveway culverts have been completed
• some catch basins and drainage structures have been completed, with additional drainage work still to come

Construction will continue along Bayou Road as crews work through the remaining components of the project.

Back-to-school safety

With Severn Shores Public School located nearby on Cumberland Drive, drivers are reminded to use extra caution as students return to school and travel through the area on foot or by bicycle.

School bus operators and other motorists should expect short delays due to temporary lane reductions, construction activity, and traffic control measures. Traffic will continue to move through the work area, and access will be maintained.

Please reduce your speed, follow all posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel, and watch carefully for students, cyclists, and school buses. Student safety is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and extra care while travelling through the area.

Limited parking at Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch

Construction continues to reduce access and parking capacity at the Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch. Parking will remain very limited until the project is completed this fall.

Boaters are encouraged to plan ahead and consider using the Quetton Street Boat Launch and Dock on Quetton Street in Washago, beside Washago Centennial Park (3376 Quetton Street).
