Compost sales return to County Waste Facilities May 4 to 23
Midhurst/April 28, 2026 – Beginning May 4 to May 23, 2026, residents from across the County of Simcoe (excluding residents from Barrie and Orillia) can once again purchase compost at all County waste facilities. For a full list of waste facility locations and hours, please click here.
Compost sales are self‑service, and residents should bring their own containers and shovels to load bins, truck beds, or trailers. Pricing is $5 per carload, $20 per truck or trailer load, and $40 per truck‑and‑trailer load, while quantities last.
Free mulch will also be available at County landfills while supplies last. As with compost, residents are responsible for self‑loading and should arrive with their own containers and shovels.
Residents are advised to check facility locations and hours before visiting.
Compost is a nutrient-rich, soil-like substance created by decomposing organic matter, in this case, in-house using leaf and yard waste material generated throughout the County of Simcoe. Learn more about how the County uses your leaf and yard waste to make compost. Mulch is an effective way to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weed growth in gardens, around trees, and along pathways.
