Township of Severn is seeking highly organized and enthusiastic individuals to join our 2026 Summer Day Camp team.
We are hiring:
- one Day Camp Coordinator
- three Day Camp Site Supervisors
- seven Day Camp Counsellors.
These staff will support the planning, development, and delivery of the Summer Day Camp Program, as well as the Severn Park Adventures drop-in program.
Camps will operate in Washago and Coldwater; therefore, reliable personal transportation is required.

Day Camp Coordinator (1 position)
Job description
The Day Camp Coordinator will also oversee camp operations, staff training, and ensure all camp activities are well organized and safe. The Day Camp Coordinator will ensure alignment with the program’s goals and address any ongoing needs or concerns.

Rate of pay
The rate of pay for this position is $22.51 per hour for up to a 40-hour work week.
Duties
The Day Camp Coordinator will:
- develop and manage the weekly schedules for all camp staff, ensuring coverage for all camp activities
- report directly to the Recreation Coordinator, meeting weekly to review the progress of the camp program, address concerns, and adjust plans as needed
- lead the planning and execution of staff training sessions, ensuring staff are fully prepared for their roles and responsibilities
- oversee camper registration, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- track and manage participant numbers, ensuring camp capacity is maintained, and issues are addressed promptly
- oversee all camp logistics, including scheduling, safety protocols, and ensuring smooth operations
- ensure all camp policies, including safety and behavioural guidelines, are followed by staff and campers
- lead staff meetings to review programming, address challenges, and discuss areas for improvement
- communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on camp activities, address inquiries, and ensure a positive experience for families
- handle administrative tasks such as processing registration forms, managing attendance, and reviewing incident reports
- monitor staff performance and provide ongoing support and feedback to ensure high-quality camp operations
- serve as an ambassador for the Township of Severn by displaying a heightened sense of customer service
- perform the duties associated with the Day Camp Site Supervisor and Day Camp Counsellor positions when required
- perform other related duties, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives
Education and experience
Applicants should demonstrate in their resume that they possess:
- a minimum of two years of experience working with children, with at least one year in a supervisory or leadership role
- strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- proven experience in creating and managing weekly staff schedules for a program
- ability to supervise and train staff, providing leadership and support
- the ability to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors
Experience or certifications in Behaviour Management Systems, Safe Management, or Crisis Prevention and Intervention are regarded as valuable assets. Prior experience working with children or youth with disabilities will also be viewed as an advantage.
Required certifications
Successful candidates will require:
- valid Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C certification (or ability to obtain before the camp season begins)
- a Vulnerable Sector Screening through a Criminal Records Check is required
Day Camp Site Supervisor (3 positions)
Job description
The Day Camp Site Supervisors will oversee the daily operations of the camp, supervising and mentoring staff, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment, and providing an exceptional camp experience for children. The Day Camp Supervisors will ensure that programs run smoothly, safely and efficiently.

Rate of pay
The rate of pay for this position is $20.01 per hour for up to a 40-hour work week.
Duties
The Day Camp Site Supervisors will:
- oversee the planning and implementation of daily camp activities
- supervise and support staff
- monitor camper safety and well-being, responding to emergencies as needed
- communicate regularly with parents to address concerns and provide updates on camp progress
- complete necessary camp documentation, including attendance records and incident reports
- provide leadership and mentorship to staff, ensuring a positive and cohesive team environment
- ensure that camp policies, including safety protocols and program guidelines, are followed at all times
- serve as an ambassador for the Township of Severn by displaying a heightened sense of customer service
- perform the duties associated with the Day Camp Counsellor position when required
- perform other related duties, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives
Education and experience

- a minimum of one to two years of experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting
- the ability to supervise and motivate staff in a dynamic camp environment
- strong leadership, communication, independent decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills

Job description
The Day Camp Counsellors will be responsible for supervising campers, facilitating camp activities, and ensuring that the camp runs smoothly.

The rate of pay for this position is $17.60 per hour for up to a 40-hour work week.
Duties
The Day Camp Counsellors will:
- supervise and engage with campers during daily activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, nature walks, and themed programs
- ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants by following camp policies and safety protocols
- monitor the well-being of campers and report any concerns or incidents to the Day Camp Site Supervisor
- assist in the implementation of the camp program and provide feedback on activity plans to ensure they meet the needs and interests of the campers
- lead and participate in activities with enthusiasm, while being a positive role model for campers
- communicate regularly with parents, provide updates on their child’s camp experience and address any concerns
- complete necessary camp paperwork, including incident reports, as required by the camp program
- work collaboratively with fellow counsellors and staff, ensuring the camp runs smoothly and that all activities are safely executed
Education and experience
