Fire ban in effect for the Township of Severn

Effective Thursday, July 16, at 9:00 a.m., the Township of Severn has issued a total fire ban due to current conditions. Air quality alerts are in effect for the area.

These conditions make outdoor burning unsafe, as additional smoke can worsen local air quality and increase health risks for residents and visitors.

Limited parking at Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch

The Bayou Road reconstruction project has reduced access and parking capacity at the Hedgemere Landing Boat Launch. Parking will remain very limited until the project is completed this fall.

Boaters are encouraged to plan ahead and consider using the Quetton Street Boat Launch and Dock, located at 3420 Quetton Street in Washago.

Public Information Centre cancelled due to Air Quality conditions

Due to the current Orange and Yellow Air Quality Alert for Simcoe Muskoka caused by wildfire smoke, the Public Information Centre scheduled for Thursday, July 16 at 3253 Port Severn Road has been cancelled.

The outdoor drop-in session was planned to share the draft concept for the new passive park and gather community feedback. However, with poor air quality and reduced visibility expected to continue into Thursday, the Township has decided to cancel the event to help protect the health and safety of residents, consultants, and staff.

A new opportunity to review the draft concept and provide feedback will be announced once arrangements have been confirmed.
