Park Design Project in Port Severn

Help shape the future of a new passive park in Port Severn

Township of Severn is creating a concept design for a new passive park on Port Severn Road, along the shoreline of Little Lake.

This is an exciting opportunity to imagine a welcoming waterfront space where residents and visitors can relax, gather, enjoy nature, and connect with the unique character of Port Severn.

The park design will be guided by community feedback, environmental review, accessibility, local heritage, and the natural beauty of the Little Lake shoreline.

About the project

This new park in Port Severn is being planned as a passive park, which means it will focus on low-impact recreation, natural features, and spaces for people to enjoy the outdoors at a relaxed pace.

The project will explore how the park could include features such as:

  • accessible washroom facilities
  • parking improvements
  • picnic and shade areas
  • park seating and furniture
  • naturalized gardens
  • public art
  • cultural and heritage interpretation
  • improved docks
  • canoe and kayak access
  • fencing and other site improvements where needed

The final concept will consider what works best for the site, the environment, the community, and future park construction.

Why this park matters

Located near Little Lake and close to the Trent-Severn Waterway, the site offers a special opportunity to improve public access to the waterfront while celebrating the area’s natural, cultural, and recreational value.

The concept design will look at how the park can:

  • create a safe, welcoming, and accessible public space
  • support shoreline habitat and local biodiversity
  • reflect Port Severn’s waterfront identity
  • provide quiet spaces for rest, gathering, and nature appreciation
  • celebrate local heritage and community character
  • help guide future investment in the park

How to get involved

Community input is an important part of this project. The Township wants to hear what residents, park users, local organizations, and community partners would like to see at this new passive park in Port Severn.

Online survey

The survey closed on June 30, 2026.

The survey asked for feedback on park priorities, potential features, accessibility, waterfront use, and the overall feel of the future park.

Public Information Centre

Community members are invited to drop in on Thursday, July 16, anytime between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the park location, to review draft park concepts and share their feedback.

Details

This informal drop-in session is an opportunity to speak directly with the consultants and project team, ask questions, and provide input before the park concept is finalized. Light refreshments will be available.

Your feedback will help shape the final design and ensure the park reflects the needs and ideas of the community.
