Township of Severn proclaims May 4 to 10 as Children’s Mental Health Week

Township of Severn has proclaimed May 4 to 10 Children’s Mental Health Week (CMHW) 2025, with National Child and Youth Mental Health Day on May 7.  

This proclamation was issued at the request of New Path. Visit their website or the Children’s Mental Health Ontario website for more information.


WHEREAS; Children’s mental health is an essential part of overall health and well-being, influencing how children learn, grow, and develop; and

WHEREAS; Early intervention, along with free and accessible support are critical in supporting children and youth, their families and caregivers with their mental wellness; and


WHEREAS; Children’s Mental Health Week is a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and highlight the importance of providing timely, fully funded, and accredited mental health services for children and youth across our communities; and

WHEREAS; The colour green symbolizes hope, growth, and well-being, and is worn throughout Children’s Mental Health Week to show support for children and youth navigating their mental health;

THEREFORE, I, Mayor Mike Burkett, do hereby proclaim May 4-10, 2026, as Children’s Mental Health Week, and encourage all residents to wear green, engage in meaningful conversations, and take action to support the mental health and well-being of children, youth, and families in our community.
