Township of Severn receives $99,700 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to launch summer day camp program

Township of Severn is pleased to recognize a $99,700 Seed Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to support the launch of a summer day camp program for children in the community.

The 12-month grant will help the Township meet current demand for local children’s programming while promoting active lifestyles. The funding will support staffing, training, First Aid certification, arts and crafts supplies, outdoor equipment, and other program needs to deliver a safe, engaging, and high-quality camp experience.

“Congratulations to the Township of Severn on receiving this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to support the launch of a local summer camp program. This investment will create new opportunities for children to learn, play, build friendships, and develop important life skills in a safe and inclusive environment. It will also provide valuable support for families by offering accessible programming close to home during the summer months. Initiatives like this help strengthen community connections and ensure that more young people have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential." MPP Jill Dunlop, Simcoe North

“Severn is thankful for this generous support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Government of Ontario. This $99,700 Seed Grant will help us launch a local summer day camp program where children can stay active, make friends, and enjoy a fun, safe, and memorable experience close to home. It is an investment in our families, our young people, and the kind of connected, healthy community we are proud to build together in Severn.” Mayor Mike Burkett, Township of Severn

The OTF-funded project will help Severn launch a new summer day camp program that creates meaningful employment and training opportunities for residents and young people, while delivering safe, active, and memorable camp experiences for up to 150 children. Through the grant, the Township will hire and train camp staff, provide First Aid certification, purchase arts, crafts, and outdoor recreation supplies, and build the foundation for a sustainable local camp program that supports children and families across the community.
