Township invites community input on new passive park design in Port Severn

Township of Severn is inviting residents, park users, local organizations, and community partners to help shape the future of a new passive park in Port Severn.

The Township is creating a concept design for a new waterfront park on Port Severn Road, along the shoreline of Little Lake. The future park is being planned as a passive park, with a focus on low-impact recreation, natural features, accessibility, and spaces where residents and visitors can relax, gather, enjoy nature, and connect with the character of Port Severn.

The park design project will explore opportunities such as accessible washroom facilities, parking improvements, picnic and shade areas, seating and park furniture, naturalized gardens, public art, cultural and heritage interpretation, improved docks, canoe and kayak access, fencing, and other site improvements where needed.

Located near Little Lake and close to the Trent-Severn Waterway, the site offers an opportunity to improve public access to the waterfront while celebrating the area’s natural, cultural, and recreational value. The final concept will consider what works best for the site, the environment, the community, and future park construction.

Following the survey, the Township will host a Public Information Centre in July to present draft park concepts to the community. This will provide another opportunity to review design ideas, ask questions, speak with the project team, and share feedback before the concept is finalized.

Community feedback will be reviewed and used to refine the preferred concept. A final concept plan and cost estimate are expected to be prepared in fall 2026 to help guide future park improvements.
