Online voting opens tomorrow, Thursday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. Eligible voters can vote online until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Monday, October 26, using the instructions and PIN in their Voter Information Letter. You can also vote in person at an advance voting station.

Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) and Mill Street (Eplett Street to Coldwater Road) will be closed on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the Coldwater BIA Trick or Treat Main Street event.

Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) and Mill Street (Eplett Street to Coldwater Road) will be closed on Friday, October 16 from 2:00 p.m. to 101:00 p.m. for the Coldwater Witches Walk.

Eligible voters can cast their ballot online in Severn’s 2026 Municipal and School Board Election from Thursday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. until Monday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m. Use the instructions and PIN in your Voter Information Letter to vote online.

Parks Canada advises the public that the Swift Rapids Road access to Lock 43 – Swift Rapids will be closed from October 13 to November 13 for essential lock infrastructure maintenance. Vehicular and pedestrian access across the lock will also be restricted during this time. The closure will begin each Monday at 9:00 a.m., with access across the lockstation restored by 5:00 p.m. each Friday.

National Breastfeeding Week is celebrated in Canada from October 1 to 7 each year. This week serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and to promote supportive practices within communities. Council and staff welcomed representatives from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to raise the National Breastfeeding Week flag and release a proclamation of support for this initiative.

Water and wastewater (sewer) bills have been issued to customers with a payment due date of October 31. 

Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) will be closed on Monday, October 12, for the Thanksgiving holiday. The office will reopen on Tuesday, October 13, at 8:30 a.m.

Construction continues on South Sparrow Lake Road as part of the Township of Severn’s ongoing investment in local infrastructure. Culvert work, ditching, and road widening are complete. Crews are now preparing for paving, which is expected the week of October 12.
