Based on water testing from July 18, the SMDHU has lifted the swim advisory for Washago Centennial Beach initially placed on July 4.

Every summer between June and September, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) collects water samples each week from public beaches within Simcoe and Muskoka.

Details of notice

Township of Severn will be completing maintenance of the Coldwater Cemetery on Friday, July 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The cemetery will be closed to vehicles during that time. 

Maintenance will include:

  • litter pick-up
  • seasonal grass cutting
  • vandalism response and repair
  • other maintenance (as required)

About the fire danger rating

Always check the fire danger rating before starting a fire. Knowing the fire danger rating is important as it helps you protect your home and community. The fire danger rating is determined using the Fire Weather Index (FWI), an internationally used method for ranking the risk of open-air fires. It considers humidity, temperature, recent rain amounts, as well as wind directions and wind speed. 

What do the ratings mean?
  • Low: Low fire danger. Burning is permitted
