Severn mourns the passing of former Mayor and Councillor Ron Stevens

It is with sadness the Township of Severn has learned of the passing of former Mayor and Councillor Ron Stevens.

Mr. Stevens started his 43-year municipal service career in 1978 as a member of the Orillia Township Council, where he served as Councillor and then Deputy Reeve until 1994. When the new Township of Severn was formed in 1994, Ron was elected as the first Mayor. He served six years for the Township of Severn and then served as the Mayor of Orillia for three consecutive terms from 2000...

Notice of road closure and culvert rehabilitation on Foxmead Road

About the project

Township of Severn is undertaking culvert rehabilitation on Foxmead Road approximately 220 metres east of Uhthoff Line (between Uhthoff Line and Burnside Line). 

This culvert rehabilitation will require a full closure beginning Monday, October 21, 2024 and is anticipated to take 4-6 weeks for completion.

This work will include:

• rehabilitation of the existing culvert
• installation of new retaining walls
• reconstruction of the roadway including a new guiderail system

Notice of sewer cleaning in Coldwater

Sewer cleaning is scheduled in Coldwater from Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

About sewer cleaning

We use a high-pressure nozzle to flush water down the sewer. The debris is removed through a maintenance hole by a large vacuum truck and taken to the landfill.

Our cleaning and inspection program keeps the sewer system operating effectively by:

• assessing conditions of the sewer so we can repair or replace them as needed
