Candidates must file their nomination in person at the Township of Severn Administrative Office, 1024 Hurlwood Lane. Online filing is not available. Review nomination requirements and election information at: severn.ca/elections.
The County of Simcoe is now accepting applications for its 2026 Experience Simcoe County Partnership Fund. This year, the County Council has allocated $400,000 to fund tourism-focused and culture-driven initiatives that aim to attract visitors to the region.
Snowbank removal is carried out on a priority basis and will take time to complete across the Township. Removal is scheduled to start in Coldwater on Thursday, January 8, at 3:00 a.m. Our Roads team will undertake this work as weather permits.
Township of Severn has lifted the Significant Weather Event declaration that was in effect as of Sunday, December 28. Our Roads teams are continuing to manage drifting snow caused by strong winds and are working to maintain safe road conditions.
Due to current and forecasted weather conditions that may pose a risk to public safety, the Township of Severn has declared a Significant Weather Event under Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act. Township staff will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates on our website and social media channels as needed.
The County of Simcoe is reminding residents of the options for overflow waste and Christmas tree removal during the holiday season. Also, a reminder that the County will no longer be responsible for recycling collection as of January 1, 2026, due to the provincially mandated recycling change.
In late 2025, the County of Simcoe asked residents for input on the Matchedash Waste Transfer Station in the Township of Severn. Options included relocating, expanding, or limiting accepted materials.
Of 825 survey respondents, 57% favoured keeping and improving the current site, citing convenience and reliability.
Based on these results, County Council voted to maintain the existing facility and introduce volume-based rate increases to reduce commercial use.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and organizations, free public skating is available at the Coldwater Community Centre (11 Michael Anne Drive) over the holiday season.
Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) will close at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, for the holiday season. The office will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
