Focusing on public safety, the Township of Severn has moved forward with the next phase in the the implementation of its Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program by activating the camera in the Division Road West Community Safety Zone around Marchmont Public School.
Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) and Mill Street (Eplett Street to Coldwater Road) will be closed on Saturday, September 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the Coldwater Steampunk and Oddity Days event.
Online registration is now open for Severn Fire and Emergency Services' annual Junior Fire Fit Challenge at the Coldwater Fair on Saturday, September 27. This fun challenge features an obstacle course designed for kids five to nine years old, educates youth about fire prevention and fire safety, and offers a glimpse into the role of a firefighter.
Resurfacing of the walkways at Washago Centennial Park (3376 Quetton Street) will start on Tuesday, September 2.
Based on beach water testing results taken on August 27, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has lifted the swimming advisory issued August 20 for Washago Centennial Park beach.
Township of Severn will be holding a hybrid Public Meeting on September 17, 2025, during the Planning and Development Committee meeting scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Severn's Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane) to consider Zoning By-law Amendment application Z-25-11 under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.
Township of Severn will be holding a hybrid Public Meeting on September 17, 2025, during the Planning and Development Committee meeting scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Severn's Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane) to consider a Housekeeping Zoning By-law amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.
Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 1, for the Labour Day holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, at 8:30 a.m.
The Ontario government is investing $7,820,125.00 in water infrastructure to help build approximately 3,055 new homes in the Township of Severn and $675,926.00 for approximately 1,000 new homes in the Town of Penetanguishene. The funding is being delivered through the province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).
Based on beach water testing results taken on August 20, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is informing residents and visitors to the Township of Severn that a swimming advisory is in place at Washago Centennial Park beach as E. Coli levels currently exceed the recreational guidelines.
