Township of Severn will be holding a hybrid Public Meeting on June 18, 2025, during the Planning and Development Committee meeting scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Severn's Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane) to consider Zoning By-law Amendment application Z-25-02 under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.
Water meter readings are underway and will continue until June 13. The next water and sewer bill will be issued on June 30 with a payment deadline of July 31. To help conserve water and reduce costs, our Lawn Watering By-law is in effect from May 15 to November 1.
Residents in the Bass Lake Woodlands subdivision are asked to reduce water consumption effective May 26, as the system is operating at reduced capacity until the approval of well #2.
Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 for the annual Coldwater Lions Duck Race.
The fire danger rating in Severn has been set to MODERATE. Please burn with caution, as conditions can change quickly, even with the recent rain and forecasted cooler temperatures. Never leave a fire unattended.
To ensure that all septic systems in Severn are properly maintained and functioning, the Township of Severn follows the Discretionary and Mandatory On-Site Sewage System Maintenance Inspection Program outlined in the Ontario Building Code, which supports the Clean Water Act. All systems in Severn are inspected on a five-year cycle.
Residents in the Lake St. George area can expect inspections to occur in the spring, summer, and fall of 2025.

The ice storm resulted in damage and dangerous conditions, rendering many parks and trails in Severn unsafe. After thorough evaluations and significant efforts, all parks have reopened; however, the Carlyon Line to Coldwater section of Uhthoff Trail remains closed for public safety.
The County of Simcoe continues to prioritize our community and others hardest hit by the ice storm for brush and debris pick-up.
The County has asked that residents place all brush and debris safely by the side of the road by Monday, May 19. Crews will return to Severn automatically for one final collection after May 19.
The fire danger rating in Severn has been set to HIGH. At the high rating, burning is allowed but please use extra caution and never leave a fire unattended. Severn Fire and Emergency Services recommends no burning.
