Township of Severn will be holding a hybrid Public Meeting on September 17, 2025, during the Planning and Development Committee meeting scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Severn's Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane) to consider a Housekeeping Zoning By-law amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990.

Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 1, for the Labour Day holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 2, at 8:30 a.m.

The Ontario government is investing $7,820,125.00 in water infrastructure to help build approximately 3,055 new homes in the Township of Severn and $675,926.00 for approximately 1,000 new homes in the Town of Penetanguishene. The funding is being delivered through the province’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), a stream of the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).

Based on beach water testing results taken on August 20, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is informing residents and visitors to the Township of Severn that a swimming advisory is in place at Washago Centennial Park beach as E. Coli levels currently exceed the recreational guidelines.

The Fire Danger Rating in Severn has been set to MODERATE. Please burn with caution, as conditions can change quickly, even with the recent rain and forecasted seasonal temperatures. Never leave a fire unattended.

With a focus on public safety, the Township of Severn is moving closer to the start of the Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program. Enforcement will begin in September after the completion of the mandatory 90-day public awareness period.

Township of Severn is now accepting applications for our Winter Control Operations positions for the upcoming 2025 to 2026 season. These roles are essential to keeping our community safe and accessible during the winter months. The deadline to apply is September 5.

The municipal-wide Fire Ban remains in effect until further notice due to extremely dry conditions and the Extreme Fire Danger. No burning of any kind is permitted. 

Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) and Mill Street (Eplett Street to Coldwater Road) will be closed on August 15, 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for The Magical World of Faeries event, and on August 16, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for The Magical World of Witchcraft and Wizardry event.
