The County of Simcoe is inviting residents to share their input on the future of the Matchedash Waste Transfer Station, located at 4546 Upper Big Chute Rd, Coldwater, located in the Township of Severn. Based on beach water testing results taken on August 6, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has lifted the swimming advisory for Washago Centennial Park beach as E. Coli levels no longer exceed the recreational guidelines.
The fire danger rating in Severn has been set to EXTREME. A municipal-wide Fire Ban is now in effect.
Township of Severn continues work on the major culvert replacement on Wainman Line approximately 650 metres north of Division Road West (between Riverwood Lane and Carriage Court). This culvert replacement has required a long-term road closure that began in September 2024. The project is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2025.
Township of Severn offers various grants and funding to community groups, not-for-profits, and charitable organizations that aim to improve the well-being and quality of life for residents of our community. Applications can now be submitted online as part of our annual Community Grant program. The deadline to submit applications for consideration by Council this year is September 30.
Earl Haid Avenue (Upper Big Chute Road to the Severn Falls dock) will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 for the Severn River Association of Property Owners (SRAPO) 46th annual Regatta.
Final tax bills were mailed on June 20 and taxes are due in two instalments, August 8 and October 8. Please remember, even during mail disruptions, all penalties, interest, or fines remain in effect. Our Administration Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) and facilities will be closed on Monday, August 4, for the Civic holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, August 5, at 8:30 a.m.
