Severn Fire and Emergency Services partners with neighbouring Fire Services to host Camp Molly - Lake Country

Severn is pleased to announce that registration for Camp Molly Lake Country is opening on March 28, 2024. This initiative is a partnership between the fire services of the Townships of Severn, Oro-Medonte, Ramara, the City of Orillia, Rama First Nation, and the National Indigenous Fire Safety Council.

Designed to introduce young women and non-binary youth to the many different careers and skill sets in the fire service (communication, medical, investigations, suppression, prevention, investigation, and public education etc.), Camp Molly works to challenge, empower, and ultimately support campers in changing the way they see themselves.

"This event is an opportunity for participants to learn about what it’s like to be a part of the fire service in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way. It helps develop confidence and shows these young women and non-binary youth that there is a place for them in the emergency services sector, and that their contributions are of value."

— Chief Monique Belair, Camp Molly founder, Fire Chief and Director of Kingston Fire and Rescue
