We offer a variety of recreation programs for all ages and abilities. Check out the following programs and learn how to register.

Due to COVID-19, all recreation classes are on hold. We'll notify you as soon as we're able to continue programming.

Registering for a recreation program

Please complete and submit the Recreation Registration form to reserve your spot in an upcoming program. You can also register in one of the following ways.

In person

Drop off your completed Recreation Registration form along with your payment.

You can register at the Administration Office located at 1024 Hurlwood Lane in Severn. It is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and we accept cash, debit and cheque payments. If you arrive, after hours, leave the form and payment in the drop box located out front.

By phone

You can register for a recreation program by phone for each of the facilities:

  • Coldwater and District Community Centre at 705-686-3322
  • Washago Community Centre at 705-689-6424

By mail

Recreation policy

Review the recreation program policy to learn about refunds, cancellations and program transfers.


If you would like to withdraw from a program and request a refund, you need to complete the Recreation Refund Request. We will issue a full refund in the event that:

  • Township of Severn cancels or changes program details and you are no longer able to attend
  • you request a refund for medical reasons and provide a doctor's note

Please note

  • all refunds will be pro-rated from the request date and subject to a $20 fee
  • if a participant is withdrawn from a program by an instructor due to incompatibility, we will issue a pro-rated refund


All programs will need to meet the following transfer guidelines:

  • transfers from one class or program to another is based on space and availability
  • transfers will be permitted up to and including the third lesson in a program


Every effort will be made to make up any cancelled or postponed classes. We will not issue refunds if a class is cancelled. Please note that participants advising an instructor, reception staff or not attending class is not considered notice of program cancellation.

Get to know our recreation program instructors!

Anita McDonald

Anita McDonald has been practising yoga for more than 10 years and began teaching in 2012 after completing a 200-hour yoga teacher-training program. She teaches Hatha Yoga using gentle, meditative approaches that focus on mindfulness, body awareness and breathing techniques that are accessible to everyone. Anita believes that Yoga is a powerful tool for self-healing, inner peace and joy!

Maryanne Collins

Maryanne Collins has been teaching a variety of programs for over 20 years. She is a Nordixx Pole Walking Instructor, holds training certificates in Fitness Ontario Leadership Programs, F.A.C.T. Exercise Considerations and Active Fitness for the Older Adult, Body-in-Motion Instructor Certification. She also has a York University Movement Certificate, Full Functional Certificate, Therapeutic Touch, Reiki 1 and 2 certificate and many more. Maryanne excels at developing fitness programming for the aging body and has been teaching with the Township of Severn for five years.

Robin Davies

Robin Davies was born and raised in Ontario and has been part of several winning teams and was asked to play competitive soccer in his early teens. When he finished school, he decided to discover the sport further and played in England, Holland and British Columbia. Robin has also taken on coaching and has helped organize both private and municipal soccer programs for men, women and children. Now living in Severn, his goal is to help make soccer more accessible to this area and a larger part of this community. Robin has a recreation background and has obtained certifications for soccer and working with the community.

Peter Loite

Peter Loite has been practicing and receiving training in yoga for more than 15 years. He completed the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Georgian College in 2014. Yoga has the path of self-discovery leading you to a deeper understanding of mind, body and spirit. Peter is passionate about helping each student unlock their true potential.

Tawnya Gauthier

Martial arts has been a part of Tawnya's life since she was a young child and she has been practicing and teaching for more than 25 years. Tawnya is currently a 5th Dan in Shorin-Ryu karate and was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame for her lifetime achievement in 2006!

Jacqueline Bayley

Jacqueline competed at high levels in many sports including swimming, skating, fastball and gymnastics. This experience led her to work with many children's programs both developing and coaching. She holds a blue belt in kickboxing and played for the Canadian women's fastball team in the World Series in 1982. Her love for and participation in a variety of sports has kept her continually involved in volunteering, coaching and supporting healthy living for kids of all ages and their families.

Roy Pattenaude

Roy Pattenaude has been teaching our T-ball program for five years. He is currently the President of the Georgian Bay Minor Softball League and is a certified coach. He has taught ball at all levels, won many awards and played his entire life.

Angelica Wilson

Trained as an Early Child Education specialist and as a musical performer, Angelica works closely with our infant and pre-school programs. She has extensive training in sensory-motor development and has worked in this field for more than 15 years.
