Notice of study: Servicing Master Plan

Servicing Master Plan overview

Township of Severn is undertaking a Servicing Master Plan (SMP) to evaluate water, wastewater, and stormwater servicing strategies to accommodate growth. The SMP will focus on three primary settlements, five rural settlement areas, and two municipal drinking water systems.

The project will include:

  • an assessment of existing water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
  • evaluation of growth area demands and reserve capacity impact
  • provide recommendations on system upgrades and expansions
  • provide project timing and cost estimates for the 30-year planning period.

Study process

This study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) , an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act. The EA process includes requirements for public engagement and consultation.

Public engagement and consultation

Opportunities for the public to provide input to the planning and design process will be provided throughout the study. This notice of study commencement is issued to inform the public about the project. To gather public input, two Public Information Centers (PICs) are planned as a part of this study.

PIC details

The first PIC will be held to present the project information, current servicing scheme, areas of improvement, etc., and receive public input prior to evaluating alternatives. The second PIC will include the assessment of alternatives and presentation of the preferred best solution. The notices of the PICs with the details of the time and location will be published on Severn's website and the project page. The comprehensive SMP will be posted for public review and comment for a one-month period at the end of the planning process.
