WHEREAS the Township of Severn recognizes the importance of Emergency Management in our community and across Canada; and
WHEREAS the goal of Emergency Preparedness Week is to raise community awareness and the need to prepare for the possibility of an emergency; and
WHEREAS the safety of our community is the responsibility of each one of us and we must prepare now and learn how to secure a strong and healthy tomorrow.
THEREFORE I, Mayor Mike Burkett, do hereby proclaim the week of May 5 to 11, 2024 to be Emergency Preparedness Week in Severn.
Everyone has a role to play in an emergency. Emergency Preparedness Week is an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you are prepared to protect yourself, your family, and your community during an emergency. This year, the theme is Be Prepared. Know Your Risks. The intent of the theme is to encourage Canadians to understand the risks in their area and learn what actions they can take to protect themselves and their families.
