"We owe each of you a tremendous amount of gratitude and appreciation for all the long hours and years of service given to our community. On behalf of Council, staff, and Severn residents, not only do we thank you for your remarkable service and bravery, but for your love of your community that led you to become a volunteer firefighter. Thank you for all that you do, and a sincere welcome to our new recruits that have made a commitment to help others in times of need, and whose actions will make a true difference in our community."

Mayor Mike Burkett

Nine new VFF recruits completed over 132 hours of training as part of the recruitment process. Some of the training exercises were Auto Extrication, Incident Command, Firefighter Survival, Ropes and Knots, Traffic Control, Radio Communications, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment and of Self-contained Breathing Apparatus.

Township of Severn is currently recruiting volunteer firefighters. Firefighting is one of the most diverse and challenging professions known today. It is this diversity that inspires most individuals to enter the service, both as volunteers and career Firefighters. Review details about the VFF recruitment process on our Recruitment page. Applications close December 1.
