Transportation Master Plan

Township of Severn has completed the update to our Transportation Master Plan. The plan will serve as a road map for short-range, medium-range and long-range transportation infrastructure investments.

In summary, the TMP will guide how we:

  • develop our roadways
  • coordinate infrastructure improvements with land uses
  • respond to future growth and demand on our transportation network

Environmental Assessment process

The study was undertaken in accordance with the planning and design process of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) for master plans and fulfills Phases 1 and 2 of the process, identifying an opportunity statement, assessment of multiple alternatives, and public consultation. A full summary of the public consultation process is available on the Transportation Master Plan page.

Study recommendations

Based on the study results, the high-level TMP recommendations include:

  • a focus on the investment in strategic road network improvements (e.g., road urbanization, local traffic operation improvements, etc.)
  • prioritization of active transportation (AT) and safer pedestrian facilities (i.e., sidewalks, multi-use pathways)

As part of the TMP update, an Implementation Plan was developed which outlines how the Township can advance the recommended road and AT projects and the related cost estimates.

Public comment period

By this notice, the TMP report is being placed online for a minimum 30-day review period starting November 13 and ending December 15, 2023. The TMP is available below or on the Transportation Master Plan page.
