Township of Severn hosts an annual Junior Fire Fit Challenge. The challenge promotes fire safety education and  introduces firefighter duties to youth in an entertaining and active way.

Event overview

The Junior Fire Fit Challenge features an obstacle course designed for kids aged 5 to 9 that shows them what it would be like to be a firefighter. The fun, hands-on challenge is designed to:

  • challenge the participants both physically and mentally
  • encourage integrity, perseverance, and to build self-confidence
  • educate youth about fire prevention and fire safety

Each junior firefighter will team up with a Severn firefighter to complete the course. The firefighter will assist, explain or demonstrate each activity to the participant. The junior firefighter will dress in a bunker coat and mock air pack for the challenge.

The Junior Fire Fit Challenge will take place at the Coldwater Fall Fair on Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The fair is held at 13 Michael Anne Drive in Coldwater.
