Port of Orillia dredging program impacting ice thickness on Lake Couchiching

The City of Orillia has initiated a dredging program to address weed growth and sediment build-up within the Port of Orillia. Township of Severn and the Severn Sound Environmental Association (SSEA) are working together to provide property owners with low priced, native tree and shrub seedlings for planting in spring 2025.

The deadline for orders is Friday, January 17, 2025.

Notice of new Site Alteration and Fill By-law effective January 1, 2025

Township of Severn has completed updates to the Site Alteration and Fill By-law. The by-law was approved by Council on December 4, 2024 and takes effect January 1, 2025. 

Site Alteration is defined as any alteration to the existing grade of land through the movement, removal or placement of fill.
