Severn road renamed in spirit of reconciliation

Township of Severn and the Chippewas of Rama First Nation worked together to choose a new name for Big Chief Road, located in the southeastern area of the Township (Ward 3). 

In early 2022 Severn Council received a letter from Chief Ted Williams on behalf of Rama First Nation, requesting the renaming of Big Chief Road.

Outdoor rinks now open in Severn

The Washago Community Centre (4361 Hamilton Street) outdoor rink is now open. The Bass Lake Woodlands Park (1956 Pine Avenue) outdoor rink was open as of Monday, January 30.

Please follow all posted guidelines and respect other ice users. Use of the rinks is at your own risk. Contact us to report any concerns or issues, such as damage or poor ice conditions.

Due dates

Interim tax bills have been mailed and the instalment due dates are March 8 and May 8.   

More than 8,500 properties in our community receive interim tax bills. If we don't receive your property tax payment by the due date, a late payment penalty of 1.25% will be applied on the day after the due date. An additional 1.25% interest will be charged on the first day of each month that you fail to pay your property taxes.

Watermain flushing will take place in Coldwater from Tuesday, January through Thursday, January 19 between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

Flushing is an important part of our water and wastewater maintenance program and ensures the integrity of the water supply system. Flushing involves isolating a section of the water distribution system and opening hydrants to release water at a high flow rate. This removes material that has built up over time and improves drinking water quality.
